Located on Wellington’s waterfront in Waitangi Park, this prominent and iconic Chaffers Dock Apartment was previously fitted out in 2007. The 180m2 apartment includes open plan kitchen, dining & lounge, snug/library with semi-enclosed outdoor deck, two bedrooms, ensuite & guest bathroom. 

The client brief was to engage in a stripped back aesthetic, improving the flow and visual connection between spaces, while exposing the building’s raw materials & structure. Using natural, sustainable & healthy materials allowed a rich palette to emerge, adding warmth, comfort and a grounded sense of belonging.

A sustainable lens was applied throughout the project, where the apartment was assessed for waste reduction, ensuring areas of re-use, recycling or up-cycling could be achieved. This manifested in the reuse of some cabinetry, where the facings were refreshed, while additional joinery was designed to complement and increase the spatial amenity. This included the integration of three new work/study spaces. 

When the evening sun sets & city lights emerge, sensitive lighting controls allow the spaces to become; functional, social, calm or intimate - bringing focus & ambience to each spatial activity. 

Curated pieces of furniture & artwork complement the spatial layout, breathing new life into this apartment - providing a retreat for clients with a busy lifestyle.
