WINE
TASTING ROOMS
New Zealand is home to many great wineries, providing unique experiences and architectural typologies. In recent years we have collaborated with three New Zealand vineyards to create beautiful wine tasting rooms: Ata Rangi, Tussock Hill, and On Giants Shoulders.
Ata Rangi
Nestled in the heart of New Zealand's Martinborough wine region, Ata Rangi's Wine Tasting Room seamlessly blends rural New Zealand vernacular with Ata Rangi brand identity of integrity, quality and custodianship to create a unique and site responsive design.
Tussock Hill
Situated in the breathtaking North Canterbury Wine Region, the Tussock Hill Cellar Door exudes a sense of place, solidity and lightness. The Cellar Door was designed to be shared with many and experience the vineyard. While also acting as a discreet gateway to discovering the Port Hills’ trails and tracks. The design frames the spectacular views of the Canterbury Plains from its vantage on Huntsbury Hill, grounding the cellar door in its surroundings.
On Giants' Shoulders
In the heart of Martinborough's wine region, the On Giants’ Shoulders Tasting Room reimagines the traditional tasting experience with simple, site-responsive design and efficient CLT prefabrication. This project embraces its materials and celebrates the surrounding vineyards framed through floor-to-ceiling windows blurring the line between indoor and outdoor.
These three wine-tasting rooms located in New Zealand vineyards showcase the diverse ways in which architecture can elevate the wine-tasting experience. Whether through sustainability, unique design, or efficient prefabrication, these spaces are more than just places to sample wine, together they create exceptional experiences.
