ON GIANTS' SHOULDERS

Set amongst a four hectare vineyard in the heart of Martinborough, On Giant’s Shoulders tasting room provides an intimate space for passionate winemakers Gabe and Bradon to educate their guests on their exceptional product, harvest techniques & wine making process. The tasting room responds to the company’s mission to connect & place visitors at the center. 

The space was designed to immerse guests in a shared experience of discussion and tasting, while working with the proportions and rhythms set out by the linea vine rows. This is acknowledged with the directed and framed view to the north looking directly along the rows, while the western aspect opens out and up to the Tararua Ranges beyond. 

The building was prefabricated using CLT construction. It was assembled as a complete building by Makers Fabrication and transported to site over the Rimutaka Ranges via truck & lifted into place onto pre-installed foundations.
